5 IDEAL LONDON RESTAURANT OPENINGS WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT THIS SUMMER AND BEYOND

Xu

From the team behind the much adored, all conquering Bao, comes Xu. Traditional Taiwanese fare is the focus, eschewing the fast-food feel of Bao in favour of dedication to the regional and authentic. A dedicated tea master will steer the drinks side of the ship. Expect an elegant, sophisticated affair with delicious food (and tea) to match.

Where and When? Opening in Chinatown, Soho on 31st May

Tom Kerridge at Juremiah Tower

It’s about time! Tom Kerridge, the loveable, omnipresent chef of delicious pub food and warm demeanor fame, is set to open his first London outpost in the summer. Details are scarce and shrouded in secrecy, but announcements are expected soon. One thing we can be sure of, the food will be hearty, generous and refined in equal measure – this man is brilliant.

Where and When? Opening in Knightsbridge on 1st July

Temper City

Having already conquered Soho with Temper, the delicious food-over-flames restaurant opened recently, Temper will looking to expand to the city. The theme will loosely be the same, with barbeque still taking centre stage, but stylistic concerns will this time hail from the Indian subcontinent. Expect beautiful breads, with those pockets of char we so love that only a tandoor can provide, and spices familiar to any curry house dweller.

Where and When? Opening TBC 2017, close to Bank, the City

Mother

We have been to the original Mother in Copenhagen, Denmark, and trust us, it’s good. The name, in reference to the starter culture needed for fantastic sourdough pizza bases, gives a hint about the reverence with which pizzas are treated here (their starter is apparently 10 years old). Biodynamic wine and carefully sourced, farm-friendly produce is also at the heart of the operation. The result? Stunning, fresh pizzas. We can’t wait.

Where and When? Opening Summer 2017, Battersea Power Station

The Coal Shed

Brighton’s The Salt Room has garnered much national newspaper praise recently and the concept is just up our street – premium fish cooked simply and with respect. The team will be bringing this ethos to London, so expect fireworks and lots of fish.

Where and When? Opening October 2017, Tower Bridge.
