5 IDEAL WAYS TO LOOK AFTER YOUR LINGERIE

Whether it’s your classic everyday underwear or best occasion lingerie, women are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing undergarments to mix and match with. However, from Brazilian briefs to lacy bralettes, maintaining lingerie can be tricky as the material is often soft, thin and delicate. So if you’re wondering how to make sure your underwear lasts as long as possible, wonder no more. With the help of laundry expert Dr. Beckmann here’s 5 IDEAL ways to look after your lingerie.

PROTECT THE COLOURS

Careless washing of lingerie can lead to the colours fading fast. You don’t want your knickers turning an unsightly dark grey, or your brighter garments losing their sparkle. Protect them with a colour collector sheet – Dr. Beckmann’s Colour and Dirt Collector ensures any colours running in the wash don’t run onto other clothes.

USE AN UNDERWEAR BAG

For any lacy, sheer and delicate lingerie, use a mesh bag to protect them from catching on any buttons or zips which may be loose in the wash. Lingerie is expensive, so careful washing will ensure the material isn’t stretched and no threads get caught and pulled out.

HANDWASH YOUR DELICATES

For bras and bralettes, it is safe to wash these in a machine, but it is recommended that the more delicate pieces are handwashed, especially if they have any form of gel padding or decorative pieces.

AVOID THE DRYER

It is commonly advised to avoid drying lingerie in the tumble dryer – it can make items shrink and bras lose their shape. Leave them out to dry naturally, and for any particular favourite pieces, leave them to dry on a hanger to keep them in shape.

STORE THEM IN A SEPARATE DRAWER

Once the underwear has been washed, keep them stored away neatly and separate from other garments they may get caught on – you don’t want to get your knickers in a twist!
