IDEAL REASONS TO: TAKE THE KIDS TO…DUBAI

When someone mentions Dubai to you, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Glitz and glamour, most likely. Dubai is one of those places that seems to mimic the kind of grand vision of the future we saw in the films of the 1970’s and 80’s: huge skyscrapers, twinkling lights, and amazingly clean streets. It is famed for the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world standing at a colossal 829.8 meters high, and also for its huge fancy shopping malls and hotels.

Dubai is the kind of place that leaves no stone unturned when it comes to cleanliness, service, and style – so it’s not exactly the usual place you would pick for a family holiday. What may surprise you, however, is that it has recently become a bit of a hotspot for families with young children, as more and more people make use of the amazing facilities out there. Here are just a few of the reasons why you should pick Dubai for your next family getaway.

The beaches

When you book a summer holiday with your kids, a big pull of the destination is usually the quality of the beaches. Having access to a number of good beaches is paramount for many people when it comes to their vacation – the beach provides endless entertainment for your kids as they play in the sea and with the sand, while you can kick back with a good book and a refreshing drink. Sound pretty blissful? Well, Dubai has some of the most exquisite beaches in the world, that are kept astonishingly clean. Some you do have to pay for, but trust us, once you see the views you’ll know it’s all worth it! Jumeirah Beach and Al Mamzar Beach are two of the most popular stretches of public beach.

The activities

If there’s one thing that proves that Dubai is the new family holiday destination, it’s the sheer amount of activities that are available. Dubai is famed for its incredible selection of water parks, some of which don’t even look real! The Aquaventure Park boasts a whopping 40 acres of rides, including the legendary Tower of Poseidon and that Ziggurat, which stands at 100 ft tall. There are also some aquariums, where the whole family can marvel at an array of marine life, and even an indoor ski park.

The desert

One of the truly wonderful things about Dubai is the diversity of its landscape. Yes, it is famed as being an ultra cool, metropolitan city. But just a short drive out of the city center will bring you to the outskirts of the Arabian desert. Here you can take part in a variety of family-friendly activities, whether that’s enjoying a camel ride or going on a tour that includes some traditional Emirati entertainment. The desert really is like no other place on earth, so it’s definitely the kind of experience your children will remember forever. Just don’t forget your suncream!
