After a long summer of wearing sandals, going barefoot on the grass and dancing at all those summer weddings, we’re betting your feet are well and truly summered-out. So as the weather starts to turn and before you pull out your winter boots and cosy socks, now’s the time to give your feet some TLC. With this in mind, Eden Hall, a luxury spa situated in the heart of Nottinghamshire, has shared exclusively 5 IDEAL tips for a DIY pedicure
PUSH BACK CUTICLES
It is important that before you paint your toenails, you soak your feet – the perfect excuse for a bath! This will make your cuticles softer and therefore easier to push back, achieving a neater finish.
USE A FOOT FILE
It is beneficial to get rid of all the hard, dead skin on your feet. You can do this by using a foot file. Make sure your feet are dry while doing this otherwise the action will not be as successful and could damage soft skin.
MOISTURISE
The professionals at Eden Hall swear that moisturising your feet will lead to expert results. To make sure that your feet soak up the moisturiser, it would also be beneficial to apply before bedtime and wear socks overnight to lock in the moisture.
ALWAYS USE A BASE COAT
It is important to always use a base coat before you apply the polish. This will not only give the nails an extra shine, it will stop your nails from being dyed with the varnish colour and will also make the polish last longer, achieving a salon-finished look like the professionals at Eden Hall.
USE A TOP COAT
Using a top coat will add a lovely glisten to your nails as well as securing your polish. To stop chipping, always seal the tip of your nail by dragging your clear polish to the edge, as this prevents chipping and makes your polish last longer.
