THE IDEAL GUIDE TO ECO FRIENDLY MATTRESSES

A lean, clean, green machine. That’s what we’re all aspiring to be right? Fortunately, there are so many ways you can live a life less impactful. Firstly, there’s the obvious; healthier eating habits, a more energy conscious approach, organic clothing and beauty products…you know the score. But leading a properly chemical-free lifestyle requires more than the obvious. There are the choices more esoteric, and seemingly innocuous; the purchases you often don’t give a second thought to. Believe it or not, even the mattress you choose can have a substantial impact on your ‘green’ credentials.

Indeed, choosing a mattress which is non-toxic, made from all organic materials, and free from harmful chemicals and synthetics can make one hell of a difference, not only to the environment, but your sleep too. There really is no reason not to. With that in mind, here’s the IDEAL guide to eco friendly mattresses.

CONVENTIONAL MATTRESS CRITICISM

It’s only been more recently that consumers have become aware of and, at times, concerned, with harmful chemicals in products that have always seemed harmless. Most conventional mattresses are made with synthetic petroleum products. Petroleum products, such as commonly used polyurethane foam, can emit what are called, volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Indeed, conventional mattresses have been tested to contain upwards of 50 VCOs.According to the Environmental Protection Agency, and this can lead to some health problems and complications. When we spend so much time in such close contact with our mattress, this is an issue which shouldn’t be taken lightly.

ORGANIC MATERIALS

The good news is this; organic materials in eco-friendly mattresses contain none of these harmful elements. Certified organic mattresses often contain a mixture of materials, including natural wool, organic cotton, natural organic latex, soybeans, hemp, and even coconut husks. For those who suffer from allergies, asthma, or respiratory problems, all-natural mattresses are often designed to meet standards for low emissions and indoor air quality.

These natural materials are much more biodegradable, and are breathable and insulated, allowing for a cooler sleep in the summer and a warmer sleep in the winter. In addition, they are absorbent and moisture-wicking to provide a more comfortable rest. Perhaps most pertinently, they don’t grow mold.

PRICE COMPARISONS

Eco-friendly mattresses can be expensive, much more than traditional foam/spring mattresses. A happy medium could be mattresses made with a combination of natural latex and organic wool or cotton, which are usually comparable in price to popular memory foam mattresses on the market. A natural wool and latex combination is usually the most expensive, but an organic cotton/spring design can be more affordable.

Not only are you paying for natural organic materials as opposed to synthetic ones, but you are also paying for sustainable manufacturing processes. Many eco-friendly mattresses are manufactured in North America and pay workers ethical living wages; an investment, for sure, but one with long-term benefits to your health and also to the environment.

KEEP IT LOCAL

Local production also helps ensure a minimised carbon footprint. Overseas shipping increases the overall emissions the company is responsible for. Local production also ensures that environmental manufacturing standards are more easily verified by third-party certification agencies, government regulated, or not-for-profit agencies with no financial gain at play.

CERTIFICATION SEALS

Keep an eye out for the various certification standards which come with ‘eco friendly’ mattresses, as they can denote very different things. The key ones to be aware of are:

Global Organic Textile Standard (G.O.T.S) – One of the most effective and trustworthy seals to see on an eco-friendly mattress. They ensure all materials used are certified organic. They are also concerned with ethical worker treatment and ensure that workers’ rights and work conditions are held to a high standard.

GreenGuard – This seal does not address flame retardants but instead focuses only on VOCs and formaldehyde.

OEKO-TEX – This organization values human health and ecological standards. They were formed to give guarantees on textile production and focus on the adverse health effects of textiles.  The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 deals with carcinogens, crop protection, heavy metals, and toxic substances. Their facilities are also very transparent and trackable. They are widely regarded as one of the most valuable certification seals.

DURABILITY QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Natural latex mattresses have some of the longest lifespans of any mattresses on the market. The durability of foam mattresses is dependent on density. Natural latex has an intense density that can ensure being effective and viable for up to 40-50 years. This dwarfs conventional mattresses, especially those made with polyurethane foam.

5 IDEAL REASONS FOR LOS ANGELES TO BE YOUR NEXT ECO-FRIENDLY HOLIDAY

The bright lights, towering buildings and impenetrable freeways of Los Angeles don’t exactly mark it out as a destination for those with an environmental conscience. But where once it was a city famed for its famous, and their ostentatious, opulent ways, the LA of today is a very different beast indeed. Placing a lean, green and clean mentality front and centre of its thinking, the city is perhaps finally worthy of its Flowers and Sunshine nickname. With that in mind, here are 5 IDEAL reasons for Los Angeles to be your next eco-friendly holiday.

RECYCLING RATE RECORD BREAKERS

The importance of recycling has never been more apparent; unless recycle rates increase hugely in the next few years, the threat of plastic contamination is going to become a very serious problem for us to deal with. Los Angeles is leading the way in this department with a recycle rate of 62% for all solid waste, including plastic. There is no other major city in the United States that comes even close to that right now. If you’re heading here for a holiday, you better pack those tote bags.

THE NUMBER ONE PRODUCER OF SOLAR ENERGY

Los Angeles has held the title of generating more solar power than any other city ever since 2013, with the exception of 2016, when California’s own San Diego took the lead. However, LA regained its position back on top once again in 2017 and 2018, after adding roughly 150MW of PV generation capacity.

This year the city lead again. Company Semper Solaris have recently upped the game further, introducing tate-of-the-art Tesla solar batteries that can hold the solar power any PV system generates for use at a later time. Look at the locations here on their official website to get an idea about the areas they currently serve and the services they provide – it may guide where you want to book your accommodation.

A GROWING TREND FOR GREEN TRANSPORT

Though LA is notorious for traffic, the city is certainly moving in the right direction in terms of moving towards greener fuel for its public vehicles. Indeed, 80% of all garbage trucks and other vehicles associated with the garbage disposal department run on natural gas in LA, alongside 2,500 public buses. It’s only a start, we know, but a positive one which other cities would do well to adopt.

TREES IN LA HAVE LEGAL PROTECTION

You know a city is serious about protecting its greenery when there are strict laws to protect the trees. Although LA has a booming construction trade, the Native Tree Ordinance protects every oa, Black Walnut and Western Sycamore tree and all other native trees found in the California Bay area. They cannot be cut down or harmed in any other way under the law. Reassuring, for sure.

ECO FRIENDLY CONSTRUCTION METHODS

Thanks mostly to previous Mayor James Hahn’s resolution to support ecofriendly construction methods and create the foundations on which LA has built so much over the years, Los Angeles was the first city in American history to adopt Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards as mandatory for all buildings owned and/or built by the City.

5 IDEAL THINGS FOR STUDENTS TO DO IN LIVERPOOL ON A BUDGET

It’s been over a decade since Liverpool was named European Capital of Culture, but the sense of this being a vibrant, forward thinking place very much remains. Ask anyone on the streets of Liverpool what they think of their city now and where it’s headed, and you’ll find no shortage of cheerful sentiments reflecting a youthful, energetic city still very much on the up.

Long associated with industrial decline, that last decade has seen an undeniable resurgence of the original UNESCO City of Music as a place to be; one filled with idealistic, creative young people and a buzz that’s hard to come by anywhere else in the U.K. All of this adds up to the dream ticket for new students to the city.

With two major universities, numerous colleges and the renowned Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, not only is the city filled with students, but it caters to them perfectly. With this in mind, and whether you’re living in luxury student homes or slumming it in halls, here are 5 IDEAL things for students to do in Liverpool on a budget.

ENJOY THE VIEWS FROM RADIO CITY TOWER

Heading on a first date with someone from your dorm? Or looking for something to do with your parents when they come to visit? Well, Radio City Tower – St John’s Beacon is it’s official name – looms large some 400 feet above the city centre and offers 360 degree views of Merseyside, the Wirral and even North Wales. Yep, on clear days you can see as far Snowdonia and or even Cumbria. And the best news? If you’re a student, you can enjoy these views for £4.50.

GO TO THE BEACH

Free and bucketfuls of fun, who doesn’t love a day out at the beach? And although Liverpool city itself isn’t exactly associated with golden sands, Merseyside offers some of the most dramatic stretches of beaches along the English coast. Crosby beach, in particular, just a 20 minute drive away, is pretty special indeed. Here you’ll find Anthony Gormley’s thought-provoking art installation of 100 statues stretching over 1.5 miles of the estuary. Some are even in the water. Amazing.

Almost as close to the city is Thurstataston beach, which is overlooked by the stunning green space of Wirral Country Park. A day out designed for the outdoorsy types, this. If you’re travelling to the beach by train, don’t forget your student railcard.

BYOB & FOOD AT THE EGG

We all know that one of the most expensive things about eating out is the cost of booze. Luckily for the skint student who still likes to dine out, Liverpool has a host of BYOB restaurants which cater to those who like a drink but don’t have the deepest of pockets.

Our favorite has got to be The Egg, one of Liverpool’s most loved vegetarian/vegan restaurants, which offers laid back bohemian vibes and chilled out seating; particularly popular with artists and students, this one. A corkage charge of just £1 and you can feed yourself really well for under £10…what’s not to love? There’s more though; The Egg also hosts an open mic night on the first Monday of every month. So, that’s a free concert, too? Students rejoice.

And if you love your food, you’ve just got to check out the city’s Chinatown, which, as Sanctuary Students accommodation in Liverpool tell us, is ”the oldest Chinese community in Europe”. We just love Lu Ban, or the guys at Sanctuary recommend checking out the multi-award winning restaurant Japanese Etsu while you’re in that part of town, too.

MUSEUMS & ART GALLERIES

Liverpool is well known and respected for its arts and culture. Indeed, ever since the city was awarded the title of the European Capital of Culture back in 2008, its national and international reputation in the art world has flourished. If you fancy seeing the cultural delights Liverpool has to offer for yourself, but only have limited student funds, you’re in luck – several of the major museums and art galleries in Liverpool are completely free. It’s almost as if they wanted students to get out there, get cultural and learn, hey?

Many of the city’s best, free museums and galleries are located in and around Albert Dock, the heart of Liverpool’s historic waterfront. Here you’ll find The Tate, The International Slavery Museum, The Planetarium, and the Maritime Museum, to name but a few.

CATCH AN FILM AT FACT

FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) is a leading visual arts foundation based in Woodstreet. Bringing world-class visual art to Liverpool, they host art projects and exhibitions, and as such is a fantastic place for young people to develop and nurture their innovative and inquisitive student minds. FACT’s in-house cinema showcases alternative, in-art house to mainstream blockbusters which can be enjoyed at student prices. Result!

5 IDEAL THINGS FOR MUSIC LOVERS TO DO IN LIVERPOOL

One of just 31 UNESCO cities of music and England’s only entry, Liverpool is famed worldwide as being a place with a passion for all things sonic. Indeed, it’s a city where music is its lifeblood, and this obsession has spawned some serious exports; the global EDM brand Cream, Elvis Costello, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, the largest African music festival in the UK, Africa Oye, and of course, The Beatles. So if you want to discover the ‘World Capital City of Pop’ (Guiness’ words, not ours) in stereo, then read on; our 5 IDEAL things for music lovers to do in Liverpool.

GO ON A ‘FAB FOUR’ SIGHTSEEING TOUR

Yep, we had to start here, with the world’s most influential band. If you’re reading this article, then we’re going to assume that you know the basics. As such, the Beatles need little introduction; a tour of places in their native Liverpool which played a role in inspiring their music should definitely sit top of your itinerary.

On that itinerary, you must include the Beatles Statue, erected in 2015 on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront to coincide with the 50th anniversary of their final concert in the city. Also vital to the legacy is both Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields, in South Liverpool, the home of the fab four. The world’s largest Beatles exhibition, the Beatles Story, is at Albert Dock, and you’ll find the John Lennon Peace Monument at King’s Dock; both well worth a look. Consider a hop on, hop off city sightseeing bus tour to get the best bang for your buck and to give your legs a rest between sites.

VISIT THE CAVERN CLUB & THE CAVERN WALL OF FAME

Part of the Beatles’ legacy, sure, but so much more than that, the Cavern Club and its Wall of Fame is a music must see in the city. Dubbed the ‘most famous club in the world’, the Beatles played here between 250 and 300 times, but the rich heritage doesn’t stop at the fab four; the Rolling Stones, the Who, Stevie Wonder, Oasis, Adele, the Arctic Monkeys and Queen have all graced the stage in the club’s illustrious history. The Cavern Wall of Fame opposite the venue documents groups who played at the original venue, as well as those acts from the city who reached number 1 in the UK charts.

Today, you can still catch a gig here, with Beatles tributes act often featured as well as established international acts and up and coming artists. And that’s all you can ask for, right?

IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE BRITISH MUSIC EXPERIENCE

The British Music Experience, the UK’s premier museum of popular music, is housed in Liverpool’s Cunard Building and offers exhibits and artefacts, many of an interactive nature, which document the history of our country’s huge influence on pop and rock music. Open everyday from 10am to 6pm, it’s an immersive ride this one, with costume and performance all adding to the notion that all your senses are getting properly stimulated. Check their website regularly for special shows, exhibitions, Q&A sessions and more.

LIVERPOOL PSYCH FEST, AFRICA OYE & LIMF

If you’re looking for bespoke summer festivals which prioritise all the right stuff – the music, the vibe, the food – then Liverpool has you well and truly covered. Let’s start with Liverpool Psych Fest (formally the hugely popular Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia). Scheduled in for 16 May 2020 and billed as ‘Tomorrow’s 14 hour high definition dream state’ (yep, that sounds so good to us too), this is one you want to get in your diary early.

What’s more, the city also plays host to the biggest celebration of African music in the country, Africa Oye, as well as the Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF), which takes place in July and draws some massive names to Liverpool. Last year legend Nile Rodgers headlined; a testament to the pull of the festival and the city.

DISCOVER NEW MUSIC

We’ve done a lot of delving into the past and cast covetous glances backwards, but what about the new music the city is producing? Liverpool has a highly energetic cluster of small clubs and bars hosting up and coming music every night of the week to satisfy your sonic sensibilities. Some of the best places to get down and discover include the Jacaranda, the Shipping Forecast and the Brink. You never know, you might discover the next big thing.

Should music not be your thing, then rest assured there’s still plenty to keep you entertained in the city. Take a deep dive into the history of Liverpool’s second most famous sons on a Liverpool Football Club sightseeing tour to Anfield stadium or get ravenous on the up and coming foodie scene. We’ve written more about that and other great reasons to visit the city over here, check it out!

5 IDEAL WAYS TO SPRUCE UP YOUR HOME FAST

If you’re reading this from home, then take a look up from your screen for a minute. Tell us what you see. Does your heart still flutter like the first flushes of new love at the sight of your curtains, picture frames and soft furnishings? Or has your relationship with your domestic space gone cold; a neglecting, crumbling relic to a fire which once burnt brightly now burnt out?

If you fall into the latter category, then all is not lost. You don’t necessarily have to move on and out to reignite that spark. Instead, a few simple steps to get that attraction back and domestic bliss restored; our 5 IDEAL ways to spruce up your home fast.

DEEP CLEAN & DECLUTTER

Sometimes it just takes a deep clean and a good declutter to get things ship shape once again. Debris and muck can crowd your view of ‘home’, making it a place where comfort takes a back seat to simply surviving. Nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand.

Sometimes, it’s as simple as creating a schedule; Trying to do everything at once, with no set plan of attack, is what usually leads to that feeling of being overwhelmed and overly exhausted. Accept that you can’t do everything in one day if you want to be effective in all areas of your life and instead create a cleaning schedule that focuses on allocating a day to each task or a series of tasks. For example, Monday could be the bathroom day, while Tuesday is dedicated to dusting. And if you’re looking for some precision tips on how to clean effectively, we’ve got just the article for you over here; check it out!

A FRESH LICK OF PAINT

Now your house is clean and orderly, you might notice a few spots in need of a further spruce up. Consider applying fresh paint to your walls as a next step on the route to a fresh domestic look. Choose colours that will help to lift your mood and make small spaces appear larger, such as creams, yellows and off-whites. If you combine these lighter, brighter shades with a darker paint for any trim and skirting in a complementary shade, then you’ll further encourage the illusion of space.

ONE ROOM RENOVATION

If these shortcuts are a little too temporary for the spruce up you had in mind, consider a complete renovation of a single room in your house as a way of bringing new life to the whole of it. Of course, this is something which shouldn’t be rushed, but if you do want a bit of urgency, it’s in your best interest to work with the professionals, such as the good guys over at Houseup house renovations in London, who’ll map out every detail of your plan and help you realise it in an efficient, effective manner.

WINDOW DRESSING

Installing window treatments is another great way to change the look of your house. Your home’s window furnishings can have a dramatic effect on the appearance of both the room and the overall impression of the house. Dress up your windows with shades, blinds or curtains and use them as a way to tie the decor in each room together nicely. Not only is this good for the aesthetics of your place, but it’ll also save on energy bills in the winter months as your rooms will keep the warmth in more efficiently. Now that’s a spruce up we’re on board with.

If you want to bring the elegance, consider investing in silk or velvet curtains instead of cheap looking, crooked blinds. Almost as important as the material and ‘hang’ of those curtains is the tie which holds them back to let the light in; an elegantly fashioned bow of contrasting colour can look seriously cool – in the most understated way of course.

HANG MIRRORS

Want to add light and dimension to a room at the knock of a hammer? An interior design trick beloved of those in-the-know is to hang some decorative mirrors; a surefire way to transform your home and bring a sense of space to proceedings without the huge financial outlay required to actually knock down walls and expand. Indeed, a mirror is an ideal way of incorporating light into a living space, as reflections will make the room feel bigger and brighter. Not only that, but a mirror will also add depth to a flat wall and can be used as a feature piece on plain backgrounds.

Moreover, decorative mirrors with stylish frames can be used in lieu of artwork to fill that empty space on your wall. Of course, you don’t want wall to wall reflective surfaces, or you risk making your room look like a den of iniquity. Instead, tastefully framed and thoughtfully positioned around each room will do the trick of creating space while also looking subtle.

5 IDEAL COATS FOR YOUR WINTER COLLECTION

Pardon us for uttering the W word as soon as the summer has reached its natural conclusion, but personally, we like to be well prepared for what’s to come. And while it might feel counterintuitive to be filling the coat rack prematurely, such foresight can often lead to bargains and rare finds before everyone else is in a shivering scramble for warmer clothes later down the line. It’s a simple case of supply and demand, right?

Personally, we’re looking forward to layers, scarves and cuddly, snuggly winter warmers. In terms of coats, there are a few timeless classics that will never go out of fashion. With that in mind, here are 5 IDEAL coats for you winter collection.

DUFFLE DELIGHTS

Channel your inner Paddington bear here. The duffle coat is stylish yet casual, and ideal for those trips to the pub when you’re not sure what the night will turn into. Most come with a removable winter hooded coat, allowing for a little flexibility in ever more unpredictable worldwide weather conditions. An added bonus; the toggles were specifically designed to be easily fastened and unfastened whilst wearing gloves. Try to find one with a high wool percentage, as these can survive rainy conditions with ease.

THE COLLARLESS COAT

The collarless coat is as timeless as it comes and enhances any look. A dressier type of wool, this guy matches perfectly with a dress for a truly sophisticated look. This is a great all rounder; as the coat is appropriate for spring but blends seamlessly into winter when paired with a scarf. It’s all in the embellishments here, so accessorise appropriately for best results.

SHEARLING DETAIL

Offering an element of cosy comfort, investing in a jacket with shearling detail will keep you warm right the way through until spring decides to show her beautiful face. Shearling jackets were particularly popular last winter, with jackets featuring collars, sleeves and lining made from shearling or borg material the biggest hitters. Updating the likes of denim and biker jackets, shearling detail can add a wintry aspect to your outfit for AW19.

MILITARY COAT

Sometimes the act of keeping warm but with style and swagger requires a military-like precision in the preparation stage. A military coat, with its funnel neck collar offering the ultimate protection you from the cold and windy weather, is a good way to go. In a season lacking much colour and verve, the traditional green hues can bring a subtle brightening of darker days. Pair with a pencil skirt for a professional look.

BIKER JACKETS

A classic design that can’t be overlooked even in the depths of winter, biker jackets are perfect for a more casual, easy approach to winter fashion. For occasions when an oversized coat isn’t necessary, a biker jacket provides just the right amount of style and warmth, and enables a smooth transition from outdoor to in. Often embellished with faux fur collars, or made using suedette material, biker jackets can be both feminine and edgy. With different colours to choose from like pastel pink, grey and tan, you don’t have to go for the classic black; although no one would blame you if you did.

5 IDEAL WAYS TO FORGO FAST FASHION

Nearly all of us are guilty of over-consuming and it’s having a direct, damaging impact on our planet, to say the least. Annually, we buy 80 billion pieces of clothing – a 400% upsurge over the last 20 years and indicative of a wide and growing problem. Producing these clothes depends on significant amounts of work and resources. The amount of water required to produce the 80 billion pieces mentioned above, for example, would fill 32 million Olympic-sized swimming pools. Our shopping habits have become out of hand, and it’s an issue that needs addressed immediately.

That said, fashion at its core is an art form, and no one should be limited with the way they want to express themselves. But when it equals devastating impacts on the environment, then it’s time to question whether it’s actually worth it. After all, when the world’s burning up and unlivable, those clothes are going to feel pretty uncomfortable, are we right? Though it sometimes feels impossible to resist or avoid a cheap t-shirt or pair of socks, it really is time to take a step back before it’s too late; our 5 IDEAL ways to forgo fast fashion.

KNOW THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF THE MATERIALS YOU USE

Experiments have suggested that it can take 1800 gallons of water to grow the cotton to make just one pair of jeans. Moreover,  cotton accounts for almost 50% of the total fibre used to make our clothes and is responsible for 18% of worldwide pesticide use and 25% of total insecticide use. Think about that next time you’re pondering a £9 pair from Primark.

Leather production has been known to have dangerous implications against the environment and human health, too. So much so, in fact, that studies have shown that leather tannery workers are at a greater risk of cancer by between 20-50%, as well as the harmful chemicals involved are polluting natural water sources and having a devastating impact on nearby communities. The list could go on. It’s therefore vital to educate yourself on the true effect of such seemingly innocuous shopping choices.

SECOND HAND

Of course, the single most efficient way to reduce your fashion footprint is to simply stop buying new clothes altogether. For some, that may sound like a proposition too radical to bear, but hear us out. There are myriad ways to never have to hit the high street again. Give charity shops your custom with vigour and regularity. There are some amazing finds lurking on the rails of your local British Heart Foundation or Mind, and you’ll be helping a valuable cause in the process of purchase, too. There really is no reason not to.

UPCYCLE & REPURPOSE OLD CLOTHES

Upcycling old clothes that are still in good condition but not necessarily in fashion is a smart, savvy way to readdress your wardrobe and redress yourself. If you’re handy with the old thread and needle, you could repurpose old items and turn them into something new and groovy in no time. Giving a new lease of life to a benched bit of clothing can bring added sentimental value, encourage creativity and most of all, it’ll without doubt be a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. Thrift has never sounded so fashionable.

SWAP AND RENT

In the spirit of reusing, suggest to friends a swapping session. We’ve all got those outfits we’ve fallen out of love with, which don’t have anything implicitly wrong with them, they’re just out of favour. Well, snap! So why not gather up the items gathering dust in the back of your wardrobe and see if any friends fancy trying them out for size. Should you have something which still can’t find a body for, donate them to that aforementioned local charity shop. And if you really do need to buy a new piece, prioritise fair trade purchases.

EMBRACE A LOOK LESS IDENTIKIT

If we’re all shopping at H&M, Topshop and Zara (disclaimer: other high street stores do exist), then it’s safe to say we’re all going to look a little similar, right? There’s probably another person reading this article right now wearing the exact same pair of underwear as you (not the actual same, but you get our gist) and though that might excite the odd person, generally it’s not a particularly enthralling thought. But in forgoing fast fashion, you’ll be embracing the chance to have a look all your own, leaving the identikit styles of the high street to the sheep who shop there. We’ve written more about creating your own unique wardrobe here; check it out!

5 IDEAL WAYS TO BE A MORE EFFICIENT FREELANCER

It’s the dream of so many; to be your own boss, working from home and in pyjamas, with a freshly brewed coffee in one hand, a margarita in the other, leftover curry for lunch and a few emails sent each day enough to earn its keep.

But rarely does dream versus reality so starkly disagree. Self-discipline, motivation, unreliable incomes and unpredictable hours are just some of the obstacles that can cause you to trip, stumble and fall if you’re not constantly vigilant, alert and on your A-game. Without a ruthless streak, the boundaries of home and office converge in such a way that you never clock out, even answering emails in your sleep. The weekends are still work days, and the money rarely arrives when it’s supposed to. It’s vital then, to be as productive and disciplined as possible. Here’s how; our 5 IDEAL ways to be a more efficient freelancer.

OUTSOURCE WHERE POSSIBLE

Though no wo/man is an island, being a freelancer can often feel like one. As such, you might find yourself trying to do everything yourself, both to save money and retain creative control of every process of your precious work. We don’t blame you. But we can’t stress this enough; collaboration is king and sharing the load (even at a cost) is extremely worthwhile, for your creative output and your stress levels.

So, outsource jobs wherever possible; there are experts in every esoteric field you could think of, so make the most of them. Let’s be honest, they’re probably better equipped than you to complete the job to your requirements. Some major tasks which definitely merit outsourcing include: any printing you may have in bulk (www.helloprint.co.uk are particular favourites of ours), proofreading and editing (upwork.com lead the field) and website and logo design (for this, we’d turn to fiverr.com).

HARNESS THE POWER OF PROPER HOME OFFICE WORKFLOW

Nine times out of ten, working freelance means from home. That, or a clustered coffee shop unconducive to getting anything done. Nope, it’s a far more efficient move in the long run to get the former tidy, well appointed and war ready for work. Above all, this encourages a more disciplined and regimented approach to the working day, rather than an aimless back’n’forth between Pret and Costa and the inevitable battle with their wifi.

You needn’t invest in fancy gadgets to harness the power of proper home office workflow. Instead, prioritise the finer details. Declutter religiously and ruthlessly, set up pot plants (ideal for boosting productivity), perhaps even embrace the power of a standing desk and decent, supportive chair. Most pertinently, create a distinction between your working space and domestic areas of recreation, thus eliminating distraction and temptation. Efficiency will naturally follow. Check out some more of our tips for home office heaven here.

TAKE A CHANCE ON TECHNOLOGY

Freelancing can be a lonely gig; no watercooler discussion of the latest Love Island episode, no gossip with colleagues about superiors and no help with deadlines. While technology can’t help with the first two (‘Alexa doesn’t understand your request to speculate about Graham from accounts’), it certainly can assist with certain aspects of your work, particularly those reliant on repetition. So, schedule tasks and automate wherever possible, standardise process, set reminders and instructions on your preferred home office app and, in doing so, leave yourself room for the creative, skilled elements of your work which you, and you alone, are best at.

SET BOUNDARIES DIGITALLY

Work smarter, not harder, as the old saying goes. Never has this been truer than when discussing freelancers. The fact that there is seemingly no sense of when the working day has finished and the downtime begun seriously affects productivity. Indeed, as a freelancer, you’ll likely find that your eyes are fixed on a laptop or phone from the moment you first sit down to work in the morning to the point you turn in for the night. With no true downtime, efficiency actually suffers greatly.

It’s fair to say that sometimes willpower alone just isn’t enough, especially when your income depends on your constant clicking, typing and scrolling, to drag yourself away. You can, however, set various digital reminders, automatic messages and timed lock outs to help you wrestle back control of your work/life balance. Consider an out of office reply from 6pm until the next morning, to mimic closing the office door behind you. With proper rest and respite, you’ll find your work inevitably improves. It’s so true it bears repeating; work smarter, not harder.

TARGETS

Self employment can sometimes feel like an undirected meander through the day, rather than a purposeful and focused foray. Setting targets, both long and short term, is the key to success when you are your own boss. These don’t necessarily have to be purely focused on income, revenue and money making; personal growth and training should also play a part. This holistic approach to improvement will be more beneficial to your company’s flourishing in the long run, make no mistake.

5 IDEAL STEPS TO BETTER MINDFUL MEDITATION

The hustle and bustle of modern life has left the country’s collective inner calm in tatters. We’re stressed, with strained and our focus is scattergun. The distraction of deadlines and devices and the pull of social media only exacerbates things. It’s no surprise, then, that more and more of us are turning to the ancient art of mindful meditation to bring clarity and precision to our lives. With this in mind, and with the help of co-founders of Inhere (London’s innovative meditation concept), Adiba Osmani and Ghazal Abrishamchi, here are 5 IDEAL steps to better mindful meditation.

START SMALL

Mindful meditation is just like exercise; it takes time, practice and dedication before results emerge. It would be folly to expect immediate weight loss when you’ve only hit the treadmill once and the same goes for the benefits of meditation.

At first, practice taking just a few minutes each day to gather the attention on your breath, breathing deeply from the belly and then observing whatever thoughts or emotions there are, being completely accepting of them when they arrive.

POSTURE MATTERS

Proper posture when meditating is important. You should sit on the floor or on a chair in a comfortable position with your back straight (you’ll find you’re liable to nod off if you lay down). Such a position helps you attain the optimum, deep breaths so crucial to meditation.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BREATH

An element intrinsic to mindful meditation is the idea of ‘following your breath’, from the moment it leaves your lungs to its natural conclusion, and then back again on the inhale. Feel your breath as it moves in and out, follow its rhythm and notice how it feels as it flows through the body. Doing this every day even for just a few minutes keeps us grounded and in the moment, helping to rein in the incessant pull of thoughts and emotions that may seem too much to handle sometimes.

OBSERVE & BRING IT BACK

It’s completely natural and expected during meditation for your mind to wander, to create narratives, to ruminate, to dwell on past events and plan future ones. The trick is to simply observe the thoughts that pass through your mind, as well as the sensations that arise in your body, rather than trying to dictate or deal with them. Become the ‘silent witness’, as it were, and embrace this reflective state. All of our thoughts, feelings and sensations are valid when meditating; we watch, we don’t judge or analyse.

DON’T DEFINE YOUR MEDITATION IN TERMS OF SUCCESS OR FAILURE

If you had a session where your mind was particularly active, leading to frustration with the practice, don’t conclude it to be a failed meditation. It’s all part of the process, and your mind will learn from the experience. Observe and acknowledge, and then move on. You’ll soon find your approach to the real world becomes more patient and compassionate, more content and balanced. And we all want that, right?

7 IDEAL WAYS TO SPEND A RAINY DAY ON HOLIDAY

For a nation so obsessed with the weather and so used to the rain, it’s amazing that we go abroad so unprepared for a day indoors. With a suitcase full of shorts, t shirts and sunnies, and an optimism unbridled, us Brits tend to bank on wall to wall, back to back sun and no excuses. But let’s face it; we’ve never been very good at predicting the weather. So, should you be be traveling on a bad weather day, anticipating a rainy day from the weather forecast or stuck indoors on your trip, all is not lost; there’s still plenty of fun to be had. Here’s some ideas; our 7 IDEAL ways to spend a rainy day on holiday.

EXPLORE THE LOCAL CUISINE

A bad weather day is a perfect opportunity to try out the local cuisine. Under roof, in the warmth, and distracted for ages by delicious food. You can visit the local food markets, sign up for a cooking class, or join a street food tour (using a taxi, of course).

Depending on your destination, you can learn how to make local specialties, spend a day in a hawking food center, or have a leisurely lunch in a local restaurant. Tasting the delicacies of a place is an essential part of immersing yourself in the local culture. And no amount of bad weather can mess with that.

HIT THE SPA

If bad weather is preventing you from getting outside, there’s still the chance for some serious r’n’r at the spa. Relaxing in a robe reading local magazines, getting a massage, meditating in the steam room, and soaking in the hot tub can add oodles of fun to a lousy weather day. Because holidays are all about getting refreshed and recharged; don’t let the rain prevent this. It’s what the spa was designed for, right?

INSTALL YOURSELF AT THE BAR

If you’re able to ditch the car, then spending your day sampling the local drinking delicacies of your destination might be a fun way to pass a bad weather day. Whether it’s a piano bar on Bourbon Street, a Malbec winery in Argentina, a Mezcal tasting in Mexico, or an Irish pub in Dublin, enjoying a few drinks will undoubtedly make a dreary weather day pass more quickly. Perhaps more importantly, bedding in at a bar is a great way to shoot the breeze with locals and make new friends. Just remember to drink responsibly.

GET IN A GOOD WORKOUT

If the weather shows no signs of improvement, you can use the opportunity to break a sweat by going for workouts at the hotel gym. Keep it cultural by doing a workout specific to your travel destination, for example, Bachata in Mexico, traditional yoga in India, capoeira in Brazil, or Thai boxing in Phuket. Sure, it might be beyond your comfort zone but that’s what travel is all about, right? And all that eating and drinking we mentioned will be guilt-free after a strong showing in the gym.

VISIT A LOCAL MUSEUM

Embrace the chance to get educated. Visiting a local museum is among the best rainy day activities as dryness is guaranteed and you have an excuse to get seriously stuck into the culture of your destination. To avoid the shelter seeking crowds, go niche; find a museum or gallery catering to the esoteric tastes of the area and leave with a brain full of useful facts and intriguing tidbits.

DUVET DAY

A holiday is all about relaxing, and even though you might not allow yourself the comfort of lazing all day in bed when at home, cuddling up for a nap on a rainy day is a much-underrated activity. Don’t succumb to the pressure of being on holiday and needing to constantly be active and in demand. You could instead download a few films or tackle that novel you’ve haven’t made time for back home. Indulge; that’s what holidays were designed for.

BRAVE IT

Or you could ignore all these previous suggestions, take the bull by the horns, and get brave and out there. Sure, if the weather’s on the dangerous side, it’s best to stay in, but don’t let a little drizzle prevent you from sticking to your travel schedule. Just ensure you have the right gear for the elements; perhaps a poncho, umbrella or jacket will suffice.

4 IDEAL WAYS TO UPDATE YOUR BEDROOM FOR AUTUMN

So you slept with the windows shut for the first time in a while last night? Yep, we see ya. Finger hovering over the thermostat, wondering if it’s okay to fire it up? Us too! Thick socks and jogging trousers dusted off and now designated as your comfy clothes? Oh yeah.

Nope, we haven’t been spying on you. But we are in the same boat. We all are. Autumn is definitely in the air; we feel it in the cooling temperatures, we see it in the darker evenings, we smell it in the pumpkin spiced lattes. It’s here. And as such, your bedroom needs an update to be synergetic with the season. Here’s how; our 4 IDEAL ways to update your bedroom for autumn.

CHANGE UP THE LIGHTING

Chances are you didn’t need much mood lighting during the summer months; you were out and about, enjoying the balmy, hazy evenings, not cozied up in bed with a good book. But autumn signals a change in our habits. Yep, that’s more early nights under the duvet, enjoying the comfort and cosiness of the domestic space as the nights gradually close in. So, you’re going to need to change up the lighting; get some dimmers installed, get some bulbs which emit a warm glow or lampshades which promote one.

It’s all about layering here and combining different lights to create a particular mood or feel. From side lamps illuminating a dark corner to flickering candles creating a warm glow, this layered approach is ideal for switching up the shade according to the activity you want to shine some light on. For inspiration, check out the lighting range from At Home Comforts by Jack Stonehouse, which offers plenty of scope for switching up the lighting possibilities.

ENRICH THE ROOM

Summer was rightly all about light blues, yellows and oranges, channeling the sea, sky, sun and our tans. But that palate, and the glorious memories of bright, heady days, feel somewhat out of place in the relative gloom of autumn, like an ex whose scent on your pillowcase simply won’t dissipate.

It’s time to refresh, reboot and refocus forwards. As such, you should channel the energy of autumn with dark oranges, deep, rich reds, and earthy tones of racing green and brown. You don’t need to repaint your room; simply change up the bedsheets to a darker tone, invest in some throws in the new season’s shades and introduce some cushions with a more autumnal themed design. The bed is the focal point of the room, so give it some love.

LAYER UP

Practically and aesthetically, the emergence of autumn should coincide with you warming your room. It’s time to get cosy, and this all starts with layering up the windows, the bed and more. If you’ve deployed simple blackout blinds all summer in an attempt to keep out that 4am sunrise, now is the time to reintroduce curtains. This serves to add warmth to the room physically, and visually it feels more comforting, too. If these curtains can harness the hues of the season, all the better. It’s also time to dust off that thicker duvet and perhaps add an extra throw to the end of your bed. Don’t fight it; the cold nights are coming.

SCENT IT SOMETHING SEASONAL

Channeling the energy of autumn shouldn’t extend only to the visual appeal of your bedroom; you can exploit all the senses here, and smell plays a huge role in bringing that warm, comforting hug of the season into your domestic space.

Candles are the obvious go-to here, but you can bring aroma into your bedroom in other ways; diffusers, popery and incense can all play a part. Perhaps steer clear of the obvious pumpkin smell and harness instead the power of early ‘Christmassy’ spices like clove and cinnamon (we like to wrap our candles in cinnamon sticks for an extra injection of the good stuff), cedarwood, and apple. Hey, maybe autumn isn’t so bad after all.

8 IDEAL BREWERIES TO EXPLORE IN BEND, OREGON

the best craft beer breweries in Bend, Oregon

What was once the preserve of the esoteric and the hipster is now a fully blown, nationwide phenomenon here in the UK. Yep, craft beer has gone from bathtub brewed to on the lips of the average household in just a few boozy years. With tart ‘sours’, ‘coffee porters’ and just about everything else in between, craft beer is now estimated to make up 6.5% of all beer sales in the UK. But who do we have to thank for this revolution? Why the USA, of course, who have been leading the way in microbrewing and craft beer for some time now. And arguably, it’s Oregon where it all began.

If you want to gain even more focus, like a satellite zooming in on Google Earth with ever greater precision, then it’s in the city of Bend, with more breweries per capita than any other (one for every 4500 people), that you should be heading; cheap flights can be found at Faremart.com or check the United Airlines official site to book a flight. Once there, the Bend Ale Trail will give you have you going as long as you can stand, with souvenirs and tasters all along the way. Sound good? It does to us, too. To get you inspired, here are 8 IDEAL breweries to explore in Bend, Oregon.

DESCHUTES BREWERY

It’s probably the most recognizable brand in town, one which began as a small brewpub way back in 1988, making them one of the oldest around too. Deschutes provides you with an insight into brewing facilities, live tasting rooms, plus a couple of brewhouses if you fancy furthering your hangover the following day.

Particularly popular is Mirror Pond, which references a famous body of water in Bend. Traditional Beaver State pub grub is available here, too. Look out for poutine and Central Oregon beef burgers; bliss with a beer.

SUNRIVER BREWERY

Sunriver Brewing is in Sunriver itself and is one of the main reasons visitors flock here. The brand has a handful of award-winning beers with their seasonal offerings especially intriguing. If you’re visiting in September or October (arguably the finest time to visit the state) then their Amarillo Fresh Hop IPA (d’Bomb – their words, not ours) is a winner. Equally enjoyable is the Rippin, a Northwest pale ale, that goes well with a beer pretzel with cheese. Double beer and cheese? Sign us up.

CRUX BREWERY

Crux Brewery, also known as the Crux Fermentation project, uses some innovative brewing methods and techniques to produce its ever unique and one of its kind beers.

The process here involves open fermentation, decoction mashing and barrel aging which produces a uniquely flavoured beer which you won’t find anywhere else in Bend. The venue itself is a modern pub house and great place to spend an afternoon. Should you be settling in for the evening, be warned; the tasty beers here are deceptively strong. Line your stomach with their El Sancho tacos if they’re on the special’s.

WORTHY BREWERY

Worthy Brewing is certainly worth a visit. Located on the east side of Bend, the place has already become an institution though only established in 2012. The brewery is focused around a beautiful garden and greenhouse, where they grow hops, experiment and test them to make arguably the best beer in town. Here they also grow herbs used in their food. Interestingly, and inspired by the owner’s keen interest in astronomy, there’s an observatory on site.

BEND BREWING COMPANY

The BBC (not to be confused with Auntie) made its advent in the brewing industry in 1995, occupying a prime location on the river Mirror Pond (not to be confused with the beer of the same name…aaaah), and has a distinct system to process their brews, using fire kettles to create assertive, unique flavours for their brews. The sours on offer are particularly good.

SILVER MOON

The Silver Moon Brewing has been trading since 1952 and has seen many renovations and changes of owners during that time. The one consistent? Their commitment to quality. Silver Moon can be found all over town, but to get a true feel for the soul behind the beer, it’s worth heading to the brewery where it all began. With the view of Bend’s downtown, and weekly live music, this is a sublime spot for suppin’. It’s a social hotspot, with regular events like Bingo for the Cure (supporting American Cancer Society), board game and trivia nights and much more.

BONEYARD

An interesting story behind the name of this one….

The owner of Boneyard first started out in an old auto shop, where he began collecting old, hand-me-down brewery equipment from other breweries, and ultimately, created his own little Boneyard. Time’s changed, and so has the fortune of the brewery, which today stands proudly as its very own operation. Old fermenters got replaced, new brewing methods brought in, but a nod to their heritage remains; they didn’t replace their old 20 barrel system and it’s still in use to this day.

GOODLIFE BREWERY

The company was the first in Bend to can their beer; now the most popular storage method for craft beers. The inside area is quite small and waits are long. They do, however, have a huge lawn out back with a bar and lawn games. The GoodLife Brewing Company has a huge brewing system, where it uses a 30 barrel, 4 vessel system that has been customised to creative their complex, hoppy offerings. A final stop on a boozy tour of Bend. We know you’ll be back.

5 IDEAL THINGS WE’RE INTO THIS WEEK: 30.08.2019

Here at IDEAL we realise that there’s more to this crazy dance than the accumulation of ‘stuff’. A life of accruing possessions will only accrue dust. Oiling the Capitalist wheels with your wallet won’t bring clarity, of that there’s no doubt….

But who can deny the positivity that a bit of pampering brings? There’s nothing wrong with taking a look inwards from time to time, letting go and just spoiling yourself. But let’s face it; a ‘buy, buy, buy’ mentality is a little wasteful, to say the least, for both our wallet and more pertinently, the planet. With that in mind, this week we’re taking a look at better caring for the stuff we already own. Here are 5 IDEAL things we’re into this week.

5 IDEAL REASONS TO CHOOSE BALI FOR YOUR NEXT FITNESS RETREAT

The obstacles to the gym are never ending. There’s that sofa to sit on, that dinner to inhale, a date to go on and Netflix to chill with. Sometimes it seems more sensible to find a fitness commitment you can neither ignore nor postpone; one which might take you to a far flung corner of the globe as a little added bonus.

Once you’ve decided on this drastic but compelling move, then it’s time to narrow down the options. Golden sand should play a part. A healthy, vibrant cuisine needs to be in the conversation. A diverse landscape ought to complete the list. Are you thinking what we’re thinking? Yep, here are 5 IDEAL reasons to choose Bali for your next fitness retreat.

NATURE’S BOUNTY

Sure, a fitness retreat should focus on sweating it out and pumping some iron first and foremost. But equally as important for a holistic, wholesome approach to getting healthy is diet. When the air is this fresh, the soil this natural and the vegetation this abundant, well, let’s just say you’re in for a treat. Tropical fruit is everywhere; you have to get stuck into the King of Fruits, durian, whilst on the island; a creamy, pungent joy. Most roadside fruit vendors will also stock mangosteen, the bulbous, curious looking fruit which yields the sweetest nuggets of flesh. In terms of health, the fruit has for centuries been believed to alleviate skin conditions.

Perhaps the most healthy, delicious thing you can try in Bali is tempeh, which is cooked, fermented soybeans similar to tofu, but higher in protein and fibre. Should you be enrolling in a boot camp or fitness retreat on the island, most provide meal plans and diet advice. For instance, with Active Escapes Fitness Retreats in Bali, an on site nutritionist is at hand to guide you through this exotic, thrilling cuisine. In the healthiest way possible, of course.

SCENERY SPECTACULAR

The confines of the gym don’t exactly work for motivation, now do they? Running between towering mountains, push ups on golden sands, ‘lengths’ in crystal clear waters…now that ticks the boxes right? Bali’s spectacular scenery will have you seriously inspired to push on that extra mile, lift another kg or simply get up a little bit earlier to get out there and amongst it. Most of the reputable fitness retreats host a good variety of their sessions in the great outdoors, from  hiking up Mount. Batur to obstacle courses housed in rice paddies. It’s all here, and it’s all beautiful. It’s nicknamed the Island of the Gods for a reason.

WATER WORKOUT

Speaking of nature’s gym, Bali’s location means its water sports options are some of the finest in the world. There’s snorkelling and scuba diving around Sanur, Menjangan Island, Blue Lagoon, Tulamben & Amed, and Nusa Lembongan, because who said that you shouldn’t combine some recreation with your exercise? Surfing is also huge here, with the workout next level and waves challenging; head to Ulawatu or Padang Padang for the best spots. Most fitness retreats will provide, or organise, lessons and equipment for you.

EXERCISE YOUR CONFIDENCE

Bali has a massive expat and digital nomad scene, as well as throngs of travellers here for fitness. A trip here with the intention of getting healthy, then, is also one which will give your social skills a good workout. Should your motive for getting away be a spell of low confidence, a trip to Bali could be just the ticket. Most looking to meet like minded people head to Ubud, though it’s reached saturation point in terms of transient expat life. Better to make for Canggu for a fresher vibe.

…AND MIND

Healthy body, healthy mind, right? And vice versa, that’s for sure. The lines between fitness and wellness retreats get blurred here, but that’s a flexibility we’re very much here for. So, within your workouts and diet plans, be sure to make time for a little meditation and yoga in order to realign all aspects of your life and return home with a fresh physique and outlook. The Yoga Barn, in Ubud, is one of South East Asia’s most lauded and well appointed retreats, and is definitely worth a look. If you’re after something more bespoke and less impactful, Omunity Bali places environmentally friendly, plastic free practice at its core. Go get it! And fit.

5 IDEAL THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT SHIPPING WHEN SETTING UP YOUR BUSINESS

Deciding to become self-employed and running your own thing is a huge step to take in your career. It’s also a hugely rewarding one. With more people becoming their own boss than ever before, it’s safe to say that taking the plunge into work-based autonomy is the new normal.

Whether you’re setting up a service or selling a product, owning your own business can be fulfilling and stressful in equal measure. Perhaps the least glamorous elements of all of this (apart from working from home in your pyjamas) is the admin. From bookkeeping to forecasts, the list of bureaucracy can feel endless.

If your new business dream involves selling a product, you’ll have to consider the realm of shipping. While acquiring your product might be easy, getting it out to your customers can sometimes prove difficult. To avoid this, it’s important to have a sound shipping plan in place, so here are 5 IDEAL things you should know about shipping when setting up your business.

SHIPPING SOFTWARE

Before you even begin to organise sending out products, it’s imperative that you have the right software in place, to make life more simple and streamlined from the get go. Shipping software not only enables you to print labels from the comfort of your home or new office, but it also means you can track packages, too.

Because of this, you will have an accurate log of shipment dates as well as delivery completion dates. This is great for your records, tax returns, and profit and loss analysis, as it means a package should never get lost in the shipment process and there will be automated evidence of every step of the journey.

RESPONSIBLE PACKAGING

If you’re sending things overseas, it’s even more important to make sure your packages are as lightweight as possible. The lighter the packages, the less they’ll cost to ship. Similarly, the more tightly you pack something, the less likely it is to break or be damaged in transit.

When packing delicate items, in particular, use things like bubble wrap and air pillows to cushion the product. It’s also important to consider the environmental impact of your package, so try to avoid using an excess of plastic or cardboard where you can.

UNDERSTAND THE HIDDEN COSTS

You’ve got your first few orders – congratulations! Now is the time to shine, to put everything you’ve worked for into practice. But with one package heading to Australia and another to America, have you thought about how much extra that will cost?

Every country has its own regulations on shipping costs including things like tax and duties. A helpful term to know when forecasting for these things is ‘landing cost’. This refers to the entire cost of the order to your business. For example, a customer might unknowingly have to cover the cost of some of their delivery if you haven’t first considered all the extra charges in your billing. This is hardly good for business and with the ease of internet reviewing, customer service has never been so crucial to a business model. Don’t leave a nasty surprise for the customer and a subsequent bad taste in their mouth. They’ll likely spit it out online, to the detriment of your company’s reputation. Instead, factor in these hidden costs to your forecasting and prices.

COUNTRY SPECIFIC REGULATION

Speaking of those country-specific hidden costs, do you know if you can send your product to every country in the world? You might be surprised. Indeed, it’s one thing to advertise international shipping for your business, but it’s no good if a customer in Japan orders something and it turns out you can’t get your product through customs.

Often, you can find all this kind of information on government or other official websites, so thoroughly research these particulars before promising something to your consumers that ultimately, you may not be able to deliver.

PARTNER WITH A COURIER SERVICE

As the owner of a business, you’re likely to be a visionary (or see yourself as one). You like to imagine the bigger picture and plans for the future rather than the nitty-gritty details. Perhaps you’re leaning back in your ergonomic chair, feet on the desk, sweeping your hand across your kingdom. As such, we doubt you’re hopping on youpushbikeke and delivering every item by hand. Nope, this is beneath you. And if you’re shipping internationally, it’s time to consider partnering with courier services

Collaborating with a courier service takes away the stress from a lot of the shipping process. If you’re working with a reputable company, you know that your parcels should safely end up in their end destination. This leaves you with the bigger decisions of the day, like when to eat lunch and whether you can claim back tax on your new coffee machine.
